Choir Weekend on the Island of Käringön
Outside Hällevikstrand, in the archipelago along
the Swedish West Coast, the charming and beautiful island of Käringön is situated. We go
there every summer, singing under the blue sky on the rocks, with a gorgeous view over the
ocean, and giving concerts at the Caprifol Restaurant and the Petersson Bar. At night, we
give an improvised concert close to the harbor, overlooking the sea and the boats in the
beautiful sunset.
World Championships in Athletics,
1996
During the Spring of 1996, we were drilled for the
Opening Event of The World Championships in Athletics together with some 3000 choir
singers from all of southern Sweden. We had a great night, singing and dancing at the
Ullevi Arena in Gothenburg.
The Yearly Weekend in Ljungskile
Every fall, we participate in a weekend course in
Ljungskile together with some 4-5 other choirs from Gothenburg. We take part in workshops
of voice training, new material, musical notation, and round it up with a party at
Saturday night.
The Lucia Day Celebration
In mid December, during the days of the Lucia
celebrations, we use to give concerts in "Nordstan", the biggest shopping mall
in town. We sing traditional Christmas songs while people are doing their Christmas
shopping. |

Concert in Stockholm 1996
In November 1996 we gave a concert at Årsta Theater
in Stockholm, together with the hosting Sånåra Choir in Stockholm. We selected songs
from all over the world, mixed in a show, while the audience had a light meal.
Choir Meetings
Every fourth year the Federation arranges a choir meeting.
This is the place to meet choirs from all over Sweden, and sometimes foreign choirs are
invited as well. During the stay, the participating choirs are trained together in
different workshops, in the purpose of giving a final concert at the end. Last year we
went to Landskrona and, among other things, we visited the island of Ven.
The Nordic meeting "Tones in
Scandinavia" was another happening is, which took place in Uddevalla last summer. At
this very event it hosted, being "The New York City Label Chorus". Moreover, a
few choirs from Finland participated.
Other Concerts
During 1997 we gave a few concerts at various places,
including The Liseberg Amusement Park in May and a street concert at the Avenu during
"The Happy Gothenburg Days" in June.
